Sounds great..."tell Mysiorek" <hahaha>
Hyhy pisze:and they r both over 4 years

"They have been together for over 4 years now", right Hyhy?
sophie pisze:Cause it's kinda a far-fetched idea

Isn't it? What the hell are we supposed to talk about?
Hyhy pisze:And this is the way of speaking today - not formal english on the web. Its easier to understand for me what sophie said than read books in english and it should in that other way?

It's better for your English skills this way.
sophie pisze:Sure, but I don't feel the need of improvement

I'm here just to see what's going on <pijak> "Need FOR improvement" anyway :]
I think it can be used both ways :/
sophie pisze:Maybe in grammar school I did, but now I read in English just for fun and usually I simply prefer it to Polish.

I woul never read, per se "Requiem for a dream" in Polish 'cause it would not make any sense. There is too much slang and strictly American-english expressions in some books.
sophie pisze:Of course, but it's not an essay writing or anything like that in here

Do not remind me of essay writing! <boje_sie> You don't have any idea how stupid were the topics I had to write about in English class here, in my college. But my teacher told me I write better English than most of the Americans in his classes <aniolek>
natasza pisze:it's very

"it's A very good idea" :]
natasza pisze: shouldn't be

"Should be" in this case. Because now you're denying the fact that you've alredy denied. When you're writing "shouldn't be" it would be in a sentence starting "A person shouldn't be..." :]
natasza pisze:learn

"learning" in this case :]
Olivia pisze:corects (or corectes?)

"corrects"
TedBundy pisze:handsome expert, nacional-left wing politics fanboy

Hyhy pisze:that this topic will change to typical HELP ME WITH MY ENGLISH PROBLEMS topic

Ooooh, hell no!
Hyhy pisze:people will write here in polish and ask how they should write it in english

Then we will tell them to scram.
natasza pisze: musted

I've always loved listening to my classmates back in Poland making that kind of mistakes. You can just fall off of a chair sometimes...

pani_minister pisze:why do You think

I know you've meant to be polite but there is no need to write "you" starting with a big letter in English. There is just no such thing in this language. Unless you're really writing something important, like a letter to some company executive or someone like that.

This topic is kinda' fun :D

Go for it, Rune-baby. Make them squirm, O Lady Divine\!

And maul Ted for me, will you? He is a "fanboy" but as to his expertise in anything... well. Must I comment that? :D

Still, I'll try to keep my somewhat rusty tongue - or fingers in this case - behind my teeth. Last time I have tried to converse with a semi-native speaker I was utterly dissadisfied. A refresher course is in order.

Have fun.

I know, I know... Japanese writing or speaking English do crack me up. I've been watching "Hellsing Ultimate" lately, and the voice of Japanese voice actor quoting 1 Corinthians almost cost me my spleen. Or something more important.

Believe me.

It goes like that:

"If anyuone does not luve the Lord, Jisus Kreist let him bi aciused, oh Lord cam."

And intonation is butchered in a very competent manner.

Truly a masterpiece comparable to our President's achievements with the National Anthem.

A minor problem, like the late Cardinal Richelieu (by Tim Curry" would say.

Natasza - there is Your problem. I wasn't talking about obligation. It was a matter of my will, not duty. That's why I used "wanted". If I had changed my statement using "had to" I would have completely changed the meaning. Why do You keep insisting that "had to" is the only appropriate choice? I WANTED means I wasn't obliged to do something. I simply WANTED to do so. No pressure, no compulsion, no obligation (expressed by "must" or "had to").

Which reminds me the splendid tone and timing in "Please, continue" by DiCaprio (Louis XIV) :]

Frankly, I was, and still am, utterly enamored with the exchange between Richelieu and Aramis. "You, of all people should know, that a Cardinal is exempt from all mortal laws" "Then you'll answer before God." And the Cardinal pulls his flintlock pistol, shoots and utters "You first." in a tone so wonderfully close to bored.. A music to my ears.

Yeah.. Richelieu.. one of the men who are always very good in being bad :] Love this kind :]

And this conversation is quite close to one of my favourites (from Prophecy): "In heaven we believe in love" as Archangel Gabriel said ... and when asked by Catherine "What do you love?" the answer was "Cracking your skull." :] Yes, definitely my kind of sense of humour and a bit of flippancy.

You want to feel "WTF?!" after watching anime? Try Paranoia Agent or FLCL. Massive doses of confusion guaranteed.

No, skip that. Watch NGE as soon as possible. "End Of" especially.

Nice idea with the topic :) Actually I didn't have any contact with a written informal english up till the last year... I kind of suck at it ;P That's why it can be quite interresting to read your posts :)

Anyway, it's a funny thing... Five years ago I thought of my english as perfect, three years ago I thought it's just good. A year ago I considered it was good enought for me to communicate. Finally, when I spent half a year with the Americans, I realized I can't even express myself fully. I guess that when You're with a people who are as handicapped as you, you just don't bother ;)

Hmmm....

Let's see. Hellsing Ultimate OVA, although you'd have to keep your fingers crossed pretty hard, since episodes are churned out by Geneon with stunning speed of 50 minutes per six months; also, you'll have to stomach engrish, courtesy of Paladin Alexander Anderson. Starship Operators isn't bad, Read Or Die TV and OVA are quite good as well - KickAssAnime does those. And Ganktsuou, if you want The Count of Monte Christo in a postmodern SF setting with spaceship battles and whatnot. Finally, for a light-hearted comedy, Aa! Megami-sama TV, both seasons, are quite sweet. Also DearS, Yumeria and Onegai Teacher/Twins.

And one more thing. Watch Appleseed. And Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

Edit:

Just watching, once again, Hellsing OVA #1. God, Anderson is remarkable. Gotta love mad Catholic priests quoting from the Good Book while slaughtering undead. "I am a vicar of Christ, an agent sent to deliver God's punishment on earth. Our mission is to exterminate idiots who dare to stand against our God without leaving even a single cell. AMEN!".

Iscariots. What an adorable bunch. How I wish Geneon thrown Cross+Fire into their extras bag...
